Mira Featherstone, LPC

Professional Counselor in Homer, Alaska

Mira has been working as a counselor for nine years. She works with adults navigating grief, unexpected life changes, and the complexities that can come with anxiety, sadness, anger, relationships, and identity. Mira’s approach is rooted in creating a space that feels open, steady, and supportive, where clients can explore their experiences and move toward meaningful change.

When she is not working, Mira can be found backpacking, roller skating, or working on her newest watercolor painting. Though she was raised in Oregon, Mira recently followed her family’s roots back to Alaska. She has settled in Homer, where she delights in exploring, hiking, and watching the sun rise over the bay.

Education & Training
Mira holds a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from Western Oregon University, with a special emphasis in working with clients who are Deaf or hard of hearing. Her training is grounded in existential and humanistic approaches to therapy.

She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in American Sign Language, with a minor in linguistics and teaching English. This background informs her attentiveness to communication, meaning-making, and the unique ways people experience and express themselves.

Experience
Mira began her clinical work during her internship, providing career and mental health counseling to young adults with disabilities. After graduation, she worked as a counselor and case manager in a community-based mental health setting, where much of her work focused on supporting adults with severe and persistent mental illness.

She later transitioned into private practice, where she developed a strong focus on supporting clients through grief and loss. In this setting, she began incorporating eco-therapy and art-based interventions into her work, offering additional ways for clients to process and explore their experiences.

Counseling Perspective
In therapy, Mira will meet you right where you are. From the very first session, her priority is helping you feel safe, supported, and truly seen. She takes time to understand your unique history, circumstances, challenges, and all the things that make you, you.

From there, therapy may take many different directions. Some people are looking for tools and strategies to implement, while others are seeking space for deeper reflection. Usually, it is a combination of both. Mira will be there to guide and support you along a path that is tailored to your goals.

Throughout the process, she checks in to make sure the work feels helpful and meaningful, and that therapy is supporting the kind of growth and healing you want to see in your life.
